CALL FOR ENTRIES 2012

DEADLINE: March 15, 2012

Video Art Festival Miden invites all video artists and video creators to participate in this year’s events, which will take place, like the past years, in public spaces at the Historic Centre of the city of Kalamata, Greece, in July 2012.

The festival call is open to every creator (individuals, groups or organizations) of any nationality and background.
 
The proposed video can be of any genre (video art, experimental video, animation, short movie etc.). Duration under 10 min.

There is no entry fee.

In its 8th realization, along with the main program, Festival Miden wishes to present the following additional special showcases:
- a special theme program entitled “99%”
- a special theme program entitled “2084”
- a special theme program entitled “(un)natural disaster”
- a special theme program entitled “You and i”
- a special theme program entitled “Celebrating”

Festival Miden also invites artists and creators who come from, have lived or have any kind of love-hate relationship with the city Kalamata (GR) to submit works for the continuous theme program entitled “Local Calling!”. The program aims to create a communication network between artists that are connected or related to Kalamata (the birth city of the festival) in any way.

VIDEO FORMAT

Please send us your works in the best available quality (HD if available).
Accepted formats:
- .avi, .mov, .mpeg, .mkv, .mp4, .vob (DVD-Video)

(Attention: Please avoid attaching stickers on the surface of the DVD/CD)

SENDING PROPOSALS (ENTRY FORM AND VIDEO)

• Creators can send one or several proposals, filling in a separate entry form for each video.
• Please indicate on your application whether you are applying for one of the special showcases mentioned above.
• Send the videos (screening copies):

1. by traditional post, (along with the filled, printed and signed entry form) to the following address:

2. or, alternatively, via any free upload/download service or via your personal website

Whatever way you choose to send the videos, you will also have to send the filled entry form in a Word file format, along with a still image or a photograph for each video (best resolution available) to the following e-mail address: entries@festivalmiden.gr

• Please mark on all copies (DVD, CD) the author’s name and the title, year of production and duration of the video. Please avoid attaching stickers on the surface of the DVD/CDs.

• Remember to mark on all dispatches:
“FOR TEMPORARY CULTURAL PURPOSE-NO COMMERCIAL VALUE”

• The festival takes no responsibility for loss or damage during transportation.

• Please do not send masters. Copies and any other material you send will not be returned, they will remain in the festival’s archive.

• Festival Miden does not send printed material (poster, program etc.) to participant artists. Electronic material will be posted on the festival’s website www.festivalmiden.gr

PROGRAM

• Festival Miden 2012 is scheduled to take place in Kalamata, Greece, in July 2012. Additional screenings and events will be organized in Kalamata, Athens and other cities/countries after July.

• Τhe complete screening program, exact dates and places will be posted on the festival website www.festivalmiden.gr and published to the press media

• Selection and programming is decided only by the festival’s director and curators

• Τhe festival has the right to refuse participation without any further explanation

• The festival reserves the right to cancel, postpone or relocate a scheduled event or the entire festival due to force majeure or other critical reasons, without any further obligations.

COPYRIGHT RELEASE

By submitting the entry form (by post and/or by e-mail), you accept the festival’s regulations and permit:

• the free presentation of the proposed video in the context of Festival Miden 2012 and in future screenings, presentations and events organized or curated by Festival Miden
• TV broadcast of the submitted video for promotional purposes
• presentation of the proposed video on the festival’s website www.festivalmiden.gr
• publication of video stills extracted from the video in festival printed material, the festival’s website and press media
• publication of the texts enclosed to the proposal (cv, synopsis, etc.)
• archival, non-profit usage of the proposed video by the festival

Please read carefully entry rules and regulations and fill the entry form. Works submitted without the festival’s official entry form will be automatically regarded as positive to all rules, regulations and choice fields of the form, with responsibility of the sender/author. The same if the entry form is semi-completed. Works submitted without full video info and author’s cv will not proceed for selection.
